Welcome to the second issue of our series of articles dedicated to architects. Today, we have the honor of introducing you to Agathe Lesage, an interior designer whose atypical career and artistic vision have shaped places full of charm and originality.
Can you introduce yourself? What is your background?
My name is Agathe Lesage, I live in Paris and I have been an interior designer for thirteen years now. I turned to this profession after working for several years in the field of international marketing within large groups. It was at the age of 38 that I felt the need to change direction. It started with some work at home that made me realize how much I loved this field. But it didn't happen overnight...
After leaving my job, I took the opportunity to train and do internships, including in a large architectural firm. This allowed me to immerse myself in the profession, and after that I started my own business. I gradually started my business by working on small projects, before seeing things grow over time.
How would you define your style? What inspires you?
So, regarding my style, I would say that it is not strictly defined. I adapt a lot to the preferences of my clients. However, I tend to avoid a very clean minimalist style, unless it is expressly requested. I appreciate touches of color and warm and welcoming environments. Curved and organic lines attract me more than strict and straight designs. So I would say that my style is characterized by rather friendly and slightly colorful atmospheres, without falling into overload.
As for my sources of inspiration, they are varied. I get ideas from decoration magazines as well as from my research on sites like Pinterest. Traveling is also a great source of inspiration for me. I often take photos of things that appeal to me, whether it's in the street or in places like hotels, and I use them as inspiration for my projects.
Among all your projects, is there one that particularly left its mark on you, that you are most proud of?
The projects I am most proud of are often "global" projects and therefore with a larger budget. It is in these projects that I can choose higher quality materials and dare to have slightly more daring ideas.
That said, I have also completed projects with smaller budgets, which is more challenging and requires more creativity to find suitable solutions. Among my recent achievements that I am particularly proud of, I can mention Trocadéro, an apartment in an Art Deco building with a view of the Eiffel Tower. But also the 300m2 chalet project in Villard Reculas, as well as the renovation of a barge on the Seine.
What faux fur products from Maison Prélonge caught your attention as an interior designer?
First of all, I want to highlight the quality of the products offered by Maison Prélonge. Their faux fur is so realistic that it could easily be mistaken for real fur. It's truly remarkable!
For example, I have a faux fur blanket from another brand at home, but the difference in quality is obvious. As soon as I touched the Maison Prélonge blankets, I was struck by their softness and the density of their fur. It is this exceptional quality that immediately seduced me and motivated me to collaborate with Maison Prélonge.
As for the products in particular, I really like their cushions and blankets. And also the hot water bottles, which I use personally!
Can you explain how Maison Prélonge faux fur was incorporated into one of your recent projects?
Indeed, I integrated Maison Prélonge faux fur cushions into the chalet project, and they blended perfectly into this warm and natural environment.
But that's not all. I find that faux fur is not necessarily limited to the mountains. In another project, the one on Avenue Rapp, I was also able to integrate faux fur cushions into the living room. They went very well with the armchairs and contributed to the harmony of the entire living room.
Do you have a decorating tip that our customers can easily reproduce at home using Maison Prélonge products?
Yes, absolutely. This is something I have actually put into practice at home. Personally, in the winter, I take out my faux fur blanket and put it either on my bed or on my sofa. It is a pleasure for the whole family when we watch television, to wrap ourselves in the softness of faux fur. In addition, it adds an elegant decorative touch to an interior.
What drives you in the creation of your projects?
What really excites me about this job is the diversity of the projects. Each assignment offers an opportunity to create something completely different. This concerns both the setting in which I work - whether in the city, in the mountains, by the sea, etc. But also the style of the project itself, which can vary depending on the preferences and character of my clients.
I particularly enjoy working in a wide variety of environments and contexts. Whether it is the renovation of a chalet, a shop or a barge, or the design of apartments and family homes, each project is a new adventure that allows me to explore new ideas and meet the specific needs of my clients.
What also motivates me is human contact. I enjoy working on office projects, where decisions are often quicker and less influenced by personal considerations, as much as on residential projects where the relationship with clients is closer and it is essential to understand their needs and tastes. My goal is always to find a balance between the different ideas and preferences of my clients. My strength is to value each person's choices by creating spaces that meet their expectations.
Future projects in sight…?
Absolutely! I have two exciting projects coming up. First, I will be working on the renovation of part of a castle, which is a completely new experience for me. It is a castle located in the north of France, and I visited it the day before yesterday. It is a very promising project and I am very excited to embark on this adventure.
Then, I have another project in the works, which will start soon. It is a 170m2 apartment in Neuilly-sur-Seine. This apartment has a terrace on the same level as a garden and offers an incredible view of all of Paris. It is a really exciting project and I am eager to see how it will evolve.
